The CIDA Livestock Health Extension Services Project is awarded the
"China Tianshan Award" in Xinjiang, P.R. China (September 29th, 2009)

 

Last September, in the year of the 60th anniversary of the PRC foundation, the Xinjiang People's Government celebrated the “Chinese Tianshan Award” ceremony to commemorate the outstanding foreign expert contribution to the autonomous region's economic and social development. The Animal Husbandry Bureau (AHB) recognized this contribution awarding the “Tianshan Award” to the World Bank project “Xinjiang Pastoral Development” managed by Ms. Rui Sousa (Sweden) and to the Canadian International Development (CIDA) funded “Livestock Health Extension Services Project” (LHESP), directed by Mrs. Debra Rasmussen (Canada). The ceremony was held in the Great Hall of the People's Government, Xinjiang Autonomous Region. The ceremony was prestige by the opening remarks of Mr. Nur.Bekri, head of People's Government of the Xinjiang Autonomous Region. During the event, Mrs. Rasmussen said “The Tianshan Award is not only a high honor awarded to individual experts but, is an award for all the individuals and institutions that have contributed to the considerable success of the LHESP in Xinjiang. Furthermore, this is also a clear incentive to all the foreign experts in Xinjiang to continue to support to the development of this beautiful land.
