Master Training of Trainers (MTOT)
MTOT Course is a course on how to effectively conduct and organize extension training activities for adults, rather than technical training for trainers. Training of trainers is a hands-on, practical training course. The course is delivered over 4 days, focusing on improving the following skills of trainers in agriculture or animal health service fields:

 
  • To conduct skill-based and learner-centered technical training;

  • To use an experiential approach to training adults;

  • To customize effective training for female and minority farmers, or farmers with minimum reading skills;

After taking this 4 day training, people are able to do:

 
  • Conduct a session of instruction geared to the learning needs of adults;

  • Design and prepare effective training sessions;

  • Choose and use proper instructional techniques, methods and aids;

  • Evaluate training sessions, courses and results.

The MTOT course focuses on using a participatory learning process. Learning activities includes large group lectures and discussions, small group work and discussions, case study, debate and min-teaching presentations etc. A smaller class setup is recommended with no more than 15 people. The course consists of four teaching modules with an introductory module. Below are the course module descriptions. You are welcome to download them.

 
  • Introduction

  • Module 1 - Learning Principle
    An introduction to adult learning characteristics; matching teaching methods with types of learning; and the trainers’ role in training

  • Module 2 - Pre-course Preparation
    An introduction to setting up a training course including the introduces training needs assessment; developing a training plan; preparing training evaluation; how to develop training materials and lesson plans as well as how to setup the training classroom

  • Module 3 - Training Aids
    An introduction to using verbal aids, and visual aids as well as how to present using proper training methods

  • Module 4 - Learning Transfer
    An introduction to developing a good learning environment and how to develop an action plan
