Training on Agricultural Products Supply Chain Management Held in Zhejiang University

  • After 4 successful training sessions on agricultural products supply chain management, and upon the request of the Chinese partners, Small Farmers Adapting to Global Markets Project and the Center for Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD), Zhejiang University once again joined hands to host the “5th High-level Training Workshop on Agricultural Products Supply Chain Management” from May 20th to 27th, 2008.

    Among the 31 participants, 7 were female (22%) and 4 from ethnic minorities. Trainees were from Sichuan, Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Xinjiang, Hunan, Hubei, Yunnan, Ningxia and Guangxi. The main purpose of this training was to change people’s mindset, promote the best practices of supply chain management of agricultural products, increase small farmers’ efficiency of production and promote the development of rural economy in Western China.

    Apart from classroom teaching, the workshop also arranged field visits. It organized the trainees to visit Nongdu Agricultural Products Wholesale Market in Zhejiang Province, Yuhang Hi-tech Agricultural Demonstration Center in Hangzhou City, Hangzhou Xiushanmeidi Agricultural Technology Development Co., Ltd, Zhejiang University Venture Park for Agricultural Experts, Zhejiang Jiayile Foods Co., Ltd. and Professional Cooperatives for Pear Production in Zhongshan Township, Tonglu County. Through the field visits, the trainees gained a better understanding of the supply chain management of agricultural products.
