Seminar on Development of Farmers' Cooperative Economic Organizations Held in Tongliao, Inner Mongolia

From May 24th to 26th, the Seminar & Training on Development of Farmers’ Cooperative Economic Organizations was held in Tongliao, Inner Mongolia. It was co-sponsored by Small Farmers Adapting to Global Markets Project and Agriculture & Animal Husbandry Department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Over 100 participants attended the training, including officials in charge of farmers’ economic organizations from Agriculture & Animal Husbandry Department, personnel of agricultural technology extension and representatives of farmers’ economic cooperatives. Trainees exchanged views on the development of farmers’ cooperative economic organizations and shared experience of their regions. Prof. Zhang Xinling of Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, Dr. Xu Xuchu of Zhejiang University and Mr. Liu Denggao, Vice President of China Soybean Association gave lectures and guidance at the training. Then, SFAGM selected 38 key trainees from the training. The key persons were organized on a tour to Beijing, in order to learn the experience of Beijing in developing farmers' cooperative economic organizations. They visited Aojindafeng Cooperative of bee products in Miyun County, Xiatun Cooperative of Asparagus Production in Miyun County and Lvao Vegetable Production Cooperative in Shunyi Region. Trainees were given introduction from different perspectives by Madam Ren Yuling, Deputy Chief of Beijing Municipal Rural Economic Operation and Management Station, Mr. Wang Lianzhong, Chief of Minyun County Rural Economic Operation and Management Station and Mr. Wan, Secretary of Party Committee in Shunyi Agricultural Park for Higher Yield, Higher Quality and Higher Economic Returns. They also answered questions raised by the trainees. Back from the tour, Mr. Guo Hongdong of Zhejiang University, Mr. Liu Guangling of Qinghua University and Mr. Wang Fudong of Beijing Tian’an Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. gave further guidance and training to the trainees and answered questions of common concern on development of farmers' cooperative economic organizations.
