EMT #4 Training in Canada Completed

By  Hu Song (SFAGM Assistant Manager)

  • The Executive Management Training (EMT) program for director general (DG) level is delivered by Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) under contract to the Small Farmers Adapting to Global Markets Project (SFAGM) in Canada during July 14-28, 2007. 7 DDG/DGs from MOFCOM, SFDA, AQSIQ and MOH attended the training, plus Hu Song the assistant manager to Small Farmers Adapting to Global Markets Project (SFAGM).

The purpose of the training is to share Canadian experience of managing food safety issues. Food safety is one of the four pillars of SFAGM project. The EMT training is designed to explain WTO/SPS/TBT agreements highlighting the Canadian legislative and regulatory system, the formation of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Canadian food safety, animal and plant health legislation and the functioning of Canadian commodity inspection programs within the food system and related activities thereto to allow China and its senior officials to be exposed to the Canadian experience in implementing the above mentioned international agreements.

It is anticipated that the training will contribute to China’s continuous efforts on building its food safety system.
