Position Summary
The Project Officer (PO), working under the supervision of the Project Manager and in close cooperation with the project team, will be mainly responsible for the communication strategy, gender equity and logistical duties related to the implementation of the Small Farmers Adapting to Global Market project (SFAGM)
Duties
and Responsibilities
The Project Officer under contract to Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada (AAFC), will be responsible to:

Manage the project communication strategy including but not limited to newsletters, website, brochures and other announcements;

Coordinate the project GE network and implementation of the gender strategy to
ensure appropriate levels of women’s participation in all activities;
-
Provide the support as required to training programs to ensure their effective design, planning and implementation and maintain the overall project training database;
-
Support the work in monitoring, scheduling and implementation of the project Environmental strategy;
-
Assist the Project Manager in the preparation of work plans, progress reports, monthly reports and other documentation or reports as required;
-
Coordinate with local partners to ensure that terms of reference, letters of invitation and logistics are arranged in support of Canadian short term and long-term technical assistance staff;

Provide administrative and logistical assistance as required for delivery of workshops, seminars and training programs;
-
Assist the Project Manager with appropriate liaison with the Chinese Implementing Agency (MOFCOM) and other relevant ministries, departments and agencies;

Organize to ensure effective operation of bi-monthly project management team (PMT) meeting;
-
Facilitate the organization of the Board of Director and participating as a resource and observer;
-
Provide information and intelligence, written or verbally in English, gathered from a network of key contacts, scrutiny of press articles, the Internet or by other means that is relevant to the effective implementation of the Project;

Provide other assistance as required to ensure the effective implementation of the project.
Qualifications and Minimum Requirements

Chinese nationality.
-
Bachelor's degree required.
-
Proven proficiency in English. Demonstrated written and oral communications skills.
-
Demonstrated experience in project management, preferably in an international setting.

Ability to work effectively on multiple issues/tasks under extremely tight deadlines.
-
Proficiency with computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) and other communication tools.
