Position Summary
The Small Farmers Adapting to Global Markets Project (the
“Projects) requires a Project Field Coordinator the pilot project field
office in Santai County, Sichuan Province. The project field coordinator
must be currently resident in the province and will work under the
supervision of the Project Manager based in the Beijing Project Office.
Duties
and Responsibilities
The Project
Field Coordinator under contract to Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada
(AAFC), will and will be responsible to:
-
Liaise closely with the Chinese
counterpart bureaus and organizations on all matters related to
effective project implementation in Santai County under Small
Farmers Project in Sichuan province;
-
Assist with the administration of the
project field office, including logistics, financial management and
personnel;
-
Provide translation and interpretation
to Canadian in their interactions with Chinese counterparts to
ensure effective and accurate communication;
-
Coordinate training programs related to
agriculture extension and Train the Trainers (TOTs) in the province
to ensure their effective design, planning and implementation;
-
Coordinate the implementation of the
project gender strategy and its effective implementation in the
province to ensure appropriate levels of women’s participation in
all activities;

Coordinate the implementation of the
pilot projects in three pilot project sites (Zizhong, Pengzhou and
Santai);
-
Provide administrative and logistical
assistance as required for delivery of workshops, seminars and
training programs in the province;
-
Assist in the preparation of work
plans, progress reports and other documentation or reports as
required;

Assist in the preparation of Requests
for Proposals (RFP’s) and other documents to support tendering for
sub-projects and local consultants;
-
Assist in managing the effective
implementation of sub-contract and local consultants in accordance
with project outcomes and outputs;

Provide information and intelligence,
written or verbally in English, gathered from a network of key
contacts, scrutiny of press articles, the Internet or by other means
that is relevant to the effective implementation of the project.

Provide inputs to the agricultural
program website (www.ccag.com.cn)
and coordinate the submission of technical materials and field
activities information to BPO website coordinator and/or website
technical maintenance personnel in Beijing.
Qualifications and Minimum
Requirements
-
Chinese nationality with comprehension
competency of Sichuan dialect.

Residence in Sichuan.
-
Bachelor's degree required. Advanced
degree in agricultural field preferred. Good knowledge of canola.

Proven proficiency in English.
Demonstrated written and oral communications skills.
-
Five years experiences on agricultural
field. Experiences on international project preferred.
-
Ability to work effectively on multiple
issues/tasks under extremely tight deadlines.
-
Ability to work in the county.
-
Computer software and other
communication tools proficiency.
Salary Range
Commensurate with qualifications.
