The project, initiated by Chinese and Canadian governments since 2000, aims to support China in the development of innovative land management technologies and extension services to promote sustainable land use in the western regions. It started in Inner Mongolia known as Phase I. Building on the initiatives of the first stage, Phase II was launched on October 15, 2004, extending to five other western development areas with more diversified activities.

We are aiming for

n	Adaptation of land resource management systems for sustainable agriculture;
n	Enhanced Sustainable Agriculture Extension Systems; and
n	Improved enabling environment for sustainable land resource management.
